About us

SummaQ is located on ArD SummaQ, an abundant land in fruits, olive oil, pine nuts, and SummaQ seeds! As a guest at SummaQ, you will become a ‘family’ member (what we like to call a SummaQ-er), as it is run by a local team driven by passion and ample love, that started from the beginning when SummaQ was found abandoned, neglected and in dire condition. It is then, when we decided to revive it and share its magical beauty with you!

And, because we love sharing our process, enthusiasm and ‘Shaghaf’, we have a small story to tell you about the origin of the SummaQ name and that of the distinctive rooms. So, what’s in the name? we have to say that it was a struggle and a challenge for months to find a name that complements the beauty and the aura of the house. After several months, our ‘Eureka’ moment emerged when walking Ard SummaQ and noticing a beautiful SummaQ flower that was just blooming. SummaQ name was born! The name embodies our Lebanese Heritage, linked to multi-healthy and wellbeing benefits and it aligns well with our concept and local setting. SummaQ as a spice is found in several Lebanese dishes from Zaatar and Babaganoush, to Hummus and Fried Eggs, and of course our local cherished Kaake! Because we want to bring people together and because food is a beautiful universal connector that transcends collective memory, shared experiences and emotion, it had to be SummaQ! As for the rooms we will keep this a secret for now till you join us around our fire pit and the red swimming pool and share stories around delicious local food (hint: we love being part of the local context and its history). Therefore, SummaQ is more than a stay; staying with us, is becoming part of a community, a family and a way to strengthen human connections rooted with nature, poetry, music and Lebanese local food!
